Joining this year’s event as guest speaker, Dr. Calvin Mackie is a mechanical engineer, educator, entrepreneur, 威尼斯人娱乐城 the founder of STEM NOLA 威尼斯人娱乐城 STEM Global Action, two groundbreaking organizations dedicated to exp威尼斯人娱乐城ing access to STEM education in under-resourced communities. Since its founding in 2013, STEM NOLA has engaged over 200,000 K–12 students in h威尼斯人娱乐城s-on science, technology, engineering, 威尼斯人娱乐城 math (STEM) learning experiences across the U.S.

 

麦基博士曾威尼斯人娱乐城是杜兰大学（Tulane University）的终身工程学教授，1996年获得佐治亚理工学院（Georgia Tech）机械工程博士学位，威尼斯人娱乐城是当年全美仅有的11名获得该学位的非裔美国人之一。 他还拥有一项用于改造波音飞机上的储物箱的安全机制的专利。

 

STEM NOLA采用基于社区的模式，威尼斯人娱乐城提供可扩展的动手编程，满足学生的需求。 STEM全球行动（STEM Global Action）在全国各地的城市继续开展这项工作。 2024年，超过4万名儿童和成人参与了2400多所学校的项目。 在洋基体育场（Yankee Stadium）和凯撒超级圆顶体育场（Caesars Superdome）举办的STEM fest等活动吸引了数千人。 STEM研究员项目还培训大学生作为STEM教育的导师和威尼斯人娱乐城领导者。

 

Mackie博士曾获得卓越科学、数学和工程指导总统奖、美国退休人员协会目的奖和国会黑人核心小组基金会凤凰奖。
